The Cupertino Job(s)

10th Standard. That was when I got my first computer. A PC actually. But the thing was, I didn’t know there were any other “types” of computer then.

Back then Windows was the only OS I had heard of. I’m sure people thought that if somebody, somewhere in the entire world, had a computer it obviously had Windows in it. I mean, come on. What else could there be in a computer if not Windows !

Naturally, by the time I planned to join engineering, I knew there was this “difficult”, “rare” OS called Linux. I swear I hadn’t even heard of something called Mac.  And for me, at that point in time, Apple was just a fruit.

On the contrary, today, my connection with my friends and relatives which normally is through a phone; my music time, which involves listening to songs on a mp3 player; my computer which is used to browse the internet, watch movies, play games etc; is by a single brand.  Apple.
Funny, how just one company can have such a big influence on you and how it gets embedded itself into your pretty little life.
If you think about it, its quite shocking how one single company can control your life so much. But the flip side about it is that, it makes you actually enjoy the time spent on doing what you’re doing.
I have owned a PC, 3 Nokia phones, 1 Samsung phone, 2 Mp3 players before but I was not attached to even one of them as much as I am attached to Apple products right now. That is the basic difference between the products of Apple and rest of the other guys.
If a product has the features, outlook, that not only impresses the user but which makes the user fond of it and gets attached to it, you’ve found yourself success and a loyal follower.
This was a mantra, formulated by one of the greatest pioneers, the world has ever seen.

Steve Jobs!

Many regard him as an arrogant, self obsessed, nasty, unfriendly dictator the IT industry has ever seen.

Be as it may, his career, his success and his achievements speak for itself. Turning around a company, which kicked him out earlier for mismanagement, which was almost bankrupt, and bringing it to the position it has gained today, eclipsing Exxon Mobil for a brief period to become the World’s No 1 most valuable company,(currently No 2) is no joke at all.
And all of this, in spite of suffering from cancer and undergoing a liver transplant.
Its the dedication, the determination and the courage of this man that has to be admired.

Today is the day Steve Jobs resigned from his CEO post at Apple.
No doubt that the success of Apple is because of all the thousands of employees working hard at Apple, but the success/failure of a company is always attributed to its CEO.

Its quite a sad day, today for all the Apple fans that this visionary has stepped down from the throne of the IT industry.
Yet, wishing him a good luck, health and happiness and wishing that Apple still retains the golden crown of the industry in the future, after the era of Steve Jobs !

TGIF

Frustration is a weird feeling.. Its one of those feelings which is pretty much like nature’s call. It has to be let out. The best(or worse) part about it is that it doesnt matter where(or on whom) its let out, unlike the latter.

The reason for Frustration in the first place is also mysterious as it is possible because of millions of mundane things, which if its simple could actually be avoided. Turns out its not as simple as it seems and thats the reason why mllions of people are frustrated as frequently as it shouldnt be.
The consequence of Frustration is not that enigmatic. On the contrary, its an easy deduction, as it usually turns out later to be something regrettable.
Yes it can be a number of different things you do when you’re frustrated but nevertheless, they’re all usually regrettable.
And sometimes it might so happen that you end up writing a lame ass post about it, which I can assure you was really not that you intended to do in the first place.

An idle mind is a Devil’s workshop they say. Might be true.. Cuz you start to get all this Satanic thoughts in your mind when you are in Frustration.. Most of it involves a baseball bat, a poor(just an expression) guy(probably fat wearing formal clothes and spectacles) and a grin on your face.. It could also involve a lonely top of a mountain and a lot of screams which you wont hear as its your mouth from where they’re originating anyway.

Apparently there are instances where Frustration made one guy(supernerd to be precise) do stupid things(bitch about gals, steal intellectual property, hack, privacy breach, screw over friends etc etc), which made him the world’s youngest billionaire, when noone had even heard of his name 4 years ago.
But inspite of that he did regret what he had done in Frustration at later point of time in life(or so he said).
Well is’nt he just one of those lucky fellows who hit a jackpot with the consequences of his actions in Frustration.
Not everyone are as lucky as him now,are they!

P.S — TGIF = True God. Idle Friday.

Anticipations vs Predictions

“Abey yeh dekh..mera dost bola ki yahan pe ek aadmi hai jo horoscopes bolta hai..woh bhi patte dekh ke..jo sach mein hota hai”..This was wat my fren told me in the office the other day..The conversation was overheard by a few colleagues and we started to have a discussion about it..Apparently one my fren’s fren had been to this “aadmi” and what he said turned out to be quite real about the past years of the former’s life..
So there were quite some speculations about this “aadmi” which went on for a few mins in the office..Ofcourse it was during a small tea break but nevertheless was an interesting discussion..
I was standing amidst the discussion going on which pretty much enveloped the whole atmosphere around and there was an unusual excitement in the air..
I’m not a steadfast believer in all these predictions and tarot reading and stuff..But that particular day i found myself wondering about a simple fact.
Is it that i really don’t believe in all these things OR am i too scared to know the truth about my future(as they call it)..Then after a few mins of pondering amidst all the ruckus i concluded that it was the latter..I was indeed scared to know it..It might not be true and might just be bullshit OR it could be true and that was what was going to happen..
But considering the second possibility the feeling of already knowing what was going to happen is more scarier than the the thing happening itself..
There are many ways to know the future..Palm reading..Tarot reading..Tea leaves..and last but not the least dreams..
I’m currently reading this graphic novel called “The Sandman” which im beginning to like..Dreams are but a realm through which every human has to pass..That concept is good but however knowing the fact that dreams could play a role in our life is scary..
Well all this is again purely belief..You can either choose to believe the predictions or not..but sometimes you do get in a place where you have a dilemma either to believe all these things and predictions or just chuck it all and move on..Considering the fact that it is scary (atleast to me) to believe in all these i would rather leave it an enigma than to be known of what is going to happen in the future..Because the confidence of every human lies in the fact that they can make their own future and they’re in the control of their own life..So if given a choice i would rather face the future with pure anticipation and excitement rather than being scared..Maybe luck does play a hand in all our lives..So lets leave it to that to do its job..Every dark cloud has a silver lining and every white cloud has a dark shade in it..

A “REAL” sixer : Delhi 6

Ok..seriously what kinda movies do ppl like these days!!
There was a loser who rated 5 stars for DevD?? And quite surprisingly it was a critic for TOI..I mean have they become so perverted!! Come on!! If ur so desperate watch something “else” losers..
And apparently these are the same ppl who ALSO said Delhi6 was the worst movie ever..
Well they probably were too dumb to get the movie..
When i heard the reviews from ppl i know i was really surprised about the fact that ROMP would come up with a “WORST” movie.
BUt nevertheless i believed ppl this time..I lost the interest to go to the theatre to watch it and maybe now i’m wishing i had been to the movies.
Its a movie with unmatched class in the genre of subtlety..Its not that gr8 an entertainer either but if ur really for some “ok-this-seems-to-be-boring-but-infact-has-a-grip” kinda movie u have to watch Delhi6..
The director has taken the element of subtlety to a whole new level..The serious and disturbing part of Indian society are shown in a very light and humorous way yet it does have its intended effect..And the serious part of the movie is taken seriously only in the 2nd half..
I read the graphic novel “watchmen” two days ago and i found a striking similarity to the ending of Delhi6 too..
Four words: “For the Greater Good”
The movie has AB Jr in a pretty simple role..And his role should be a stereotype of the new generation cool dudes..Quite sadly it isnt..
Questioning things but actually trying to find the answer,is what is required instead of blaming and criticising ppl for their old ways, old practices..
The movie is an eye opener for ppl who think India as being a sad country(IF they want their eyes to be opened)..The reason they give when asked why they moved out of India is not cuz they hate the things here, but its cuz they are probably scared to do anything about it.
Its a sad thing that, in India when once upon a time Hindus and Muslims indeed coexisted in harmony as neighbours, sharing and celebrating each other’s festivals has now turned into blood battles and feuds for the most trivial reasons..
The main underlying thought of the movie which’s what ROMP probably wanted to present is that:
“No matter how hard we try to prove amongst ourselves that we are the stronger ones, there will be atleast a few forces or entities that will scare the hell out of us and eventually make us team up with each other for the greater good..Call it Ram..or Allah..or Destiny..Its all the same..”

And the world probably needs such a thing to happen to put an end to all the “RED” shades in the country..

P.S- 4/5 Stars..Rakeysh OM Prakash Mehra has “Actually” done it again..DO watch it if u haven’t..But with NO expectations.
